Sustainability

Natural sleep means regeneration for the body, mind and soul. There is nowhere else where one can better relax and recharge his batteries than in a perfectly constructed bed. What could be more obvious than to pay the utmost attention to this bed? Experience, tradition and natural materials play the key roles here. Experience the unique sleeping climate in a bed made by SCHRAMM. Nothing comes more naturally.

Nachhaltigkeit Winnweiler

We think ahead to tomorrow

For this reason, we manufacture our bed systems, mattresses and furniture exclusively here in Winnweiler. In this way, we keep transport costs as low as possible and improve our CO2 balance. Only a few products from our HOME COLLECTION are manufactured abroad by carefully selected producers. Further information on this can be found under the respective articles.

OEKO-TEX®

There are many quality seals for textiles. Probably the best-known mark is the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, for which our mattresses and toppers must meet certain quality criteria. One of these criteria is certification that the article has been tested for harmful chemicals. For this, specific requirements such as the exclusion of allergenic disperse dyes, the strict regulation of formaldehyde and the verification of good colour fastnesses (especially perspiration and rubbing fastness) are controlled. The pH value also proves to be kind to the skin. We attach great importance to the fact that the materials we use in the skin-near area correspond to this standard.

Nachhaltigkeit Cradle to Cradle

Cradle to cradle

All leftover upholstery material from the production process is sent back to our regional supplier. After recycling, these materials are returned to the production process. This is a concept that SCHRAMM has been pursuing with ecological and economic success for a long time.

Climate neutral company

When Fokus Zukunft talks about "climate neutrality" or "climate neutral", it usually means the compensation of greenhouse gas emissions. This means that a certain action causes neither more nor less climate-damaging gases in the atmosphere overall. In particular, this is achieved by saving or storing the same number of emitted greenhouse gases elsewhere. It is irrelevant for the climate where in the world the savings are made - the global total of greenhouse gases is decisive. The "climate neutral" award confirms that the determined number of emissions has been offset with the same number of climate protection certificates from the Fokus Zukunft portfolio (1 tonne of CO2e = 1 climate protection certificate).

SCHRAMM has offset the company's greenhouse gas emissions for 2022-2023 by purchasing 1,908 certificates from the "UN CER Biomass Chile" project.

Nachhaltigkeit Baumwolle

Cotton

The use of cotton has a long tradition at SCHRAMM. The right quality plays a decisive role in the "feel of the product". Cotton is a component in the upholstery of all SCHRAMM mattresses, base mattresses and many other articles, as well as in our Home Collection. The natural material absorbs moisture very well, is breathable and renewable. Luxury bed linen made of natural material regulates temperature and ensures that we do not sweat too much during the night. Especially in the hot summer months, we need high-quality materials that support our good sleep.

Nachhaltigkeit Holz

Wood

We obtain our wood exclusively from regional suppliers, to whom sustainable and nature-friendly forestry and the natural regenerative capacity of the forest are just as important as they are to us. In this way, we also actively support our region in promoting jobs.

Nachhaltigkeit Kamelhaar

Camel hair

Camels experience a variety of climatic conditions from very hot down to very cold temperatures. Therefore, camel hair is known for its temperature regulation, cooling in the summer and warming in the winter. The hair is neither shorn nor combed out, it falls out naturally in bunches at springtime. It gets processed into fluffy wool. Due to the low wool fat content (lanolin), camel hair is also particularly suitable for allergy sufferers. SCHRAMM uses camel hair in various HOME COLLECTION items and camel toppers.

Nachhaltigkeit Kaschmir

Cashmere

Gentle, exclusive luxury: This unique natural product is obtained only once a year by combing or plucking the cashmere goat that lives in the Central Asian highlands. The yield is only 450 - 500 g per animal. All cashmere articles from SCHRAMM are therefore not mass-produced, but quality products. It is the softest downy hair, supple and temperature regulating and thus contributes wonderfully to a healthy and restful sleep.

Nachhaltigkeit Leinen

Linen

Linen, also known as flax, is an ancient cultivated plant that does not harm the body or the environment. SCHRAMM has dedicated itself to processing linen because it is particularly durable: linen fibres are more robust than cotton fibres. It is very easy to care for and gets clean even at low temperatures and with little friction. No harsh detergents are needed to loosen dirt. Flax can be grown in Europe and therefore regionally. It has a cooling effect, is antistatic, absorbs liquids very well and releases them just as quickly. Perfect for us. Perfect for the environment.

Nachhaltigkeit Leder

Leather

SCHRAMM is proud to be able to follow an ecological path here too. Our tannery was the first company in the world to be awarded with the "Blauen Engel" for the product "upholstery leather". Even the warehouse of our leather supplier is equipped with the most modern and environmentally friendly technologies. Our partners thus meet high standards in terms of environmental, health and usage properties. Another sustainable action by SCHRAMM that is close to our hearts.

Nachhaltigkeit Talalay-Latex

Latex by the Talalay process

Latex (rubber) is an elastic raw material obtained from the milky liquid of the rubber tree. SCHRAMM latex is produced in accordance with the elaborate Talalay process. This is the only process in which the form is put under vacuum after the filling. This leads to an optimal distribution of the material. At approximately minus 50°C (122°F) the smallest air particles distribute evenly, whereafter vulcanization commences at approximately 105°C (221°F). At the end of the process the latex is washed so that potential allergens are eliminated. The result is a homogeneous, porous latex with offset perforation and outstanding resting and ventilation properties (= removal of moisture) and whose point-elasticity is unsurpassed. The latex used is not combined with inactive filling materials as is common with other brands. By the way, it is impossible to produce latex from 100% natural latex, that is, latex exclusively made from the milk of the rubber tree. For purposes of achieving higher dynamics, better padding properties and less wear, SCHRAMM combines natural with synthetic latex. SCHRAMM Talalay latex is certified according to the „STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®“.

Nachhaltigkeit Schafschurwolle

Pure virgin sheep's wool

Virgin sheep's wool is an elastic, natural animal fibre that has a high water absorption capacity. As a result, it significantly improves the indoor climate and the fibres also never really get damp - which keeps the fabrics cool in summer. SCHRAMM uses pure, natural virgin sheep's wool for the mattress pad cover. Virgin sheep's wool comes from living sheep and is not chemically treated. We process the virgin sheep's wool from the best 'Plein Air quality'. Plein Air wool is obtained from French free-range sheep. This makes it much more resistant and a better resilience is given.

Nachhaltigkeit Seide

Silk

Pleasant fabric - noble and sustainable. Its incomparable properties include its precious sheen, it is soft, gentle on the skin and robust. Silk offers good thermal insulation: cooling in summer and warming in winter and is also biodegradable.
